When in DOS, any character code from the IBM standard (0-127) or
extended (128-255) character set may be entered by pressing and
holding the <ALT> key while keying in the character code on the
number keys. The ALT-nnn function can be enabled (default) or
disabled through the extended BIOS function 2E11h.
